DESCRIPTION:Ready for an adventure? In this course\, we will weave a 21” pack basket. This is our largest basket! \nMUST register for course and pay $140 in advance for instructor to buy enough materials for attendees.   \nA pack basket is a traditional type of backpack used for carrying items while hiking\, hunting\, or for general outdoor activities. Pack baskets have a long history dating back centuries and have been used by various cultures around the world. \nThis basket will be made with premium reed and will have either an ash or oak handle. All baskets will have a base\, feet and pack straps of various colors. We will also have color reeds available to give your basket a little color. \nWe will go through step-by step instructions to ensure that all students finish their basket. This class is for any basket ability even a beginner. Land stewards and water steward volunteers\, including paddlers and some boaters\, are welcome to participate in the waterways. Please note that participation is at your own risk in the river\, as the Androscoggin River has fluctuated wildly in the past few months. DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars. Join ALT and Lake Stewards of Maine for a plant paddle. During this outdoor\, on-water class\, guests will learn how to survey for suspicious aquatic plants. We will be covering basic botany\, plant structure\, and life cycles for a variety of common plants. Participants will learn how to use LSM’s Quick Key to determine whether plants are suspicious of being invasive\, discover which aquatic invasive plants are infesting Maine lakes\, and learn how to monitor lakes and how to report findings by becoming an invasive plant patrol (IPP) volunteer. This is a great way to protect Maine’s waterways from invasive plants all while enjoying float around Loon Pond.\nThis is a free event and will be held at Camp Gustin on June 5 from 9-12. SUMMARY:Learn to Fish at Camp Gustin
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a relaxed\, hands-on introduction to fishing at\nbeautiful Camp Gustin. Participants will learn basic\nfishing skills\, knot tying\, casting\, and fish identification\nwhile enjoying time outdoors by the water. All experience\nlevels are welcome—especially beginners. Equipment\nand instruction will be provided.
