Androscoggin Land Trust (ALT) was founded in 1989 by a dedicated group of people who worked to preserve cherished watershed land in Turner that is now the fifth-largest state park with 12 miles of river frontage – Androscoggin Riverlands.  Fast forward 30 years to 2019, and ALT has conserved and additional 6,000+ acres of land in the Androscoggin River watershed from Jay to Durham. These lands contribute to water quality, ecological health and diversity, wildlife, plant and human health, opportunities for exploration, economic vitality, community well-being and scenic beauty, for now and for future generations.   As we look back, we are amazed and grateful for incredible support and dedication from the many individuals including our board, members, volunteers, and the many partners including municipalities, businesses, and organizations that have helped get us to this point. We hope you all will join us to celebrate our 30th year!

These are some of the ways we plan to celebrate in 2019:

  • A Special Annual Meeting & 30th Anniversary Celebration – Please join us Tuesday, November 12, 5-7:30 PM at L/A Arts, 221 Lisbon St, Lewiston for a celebratory event for our 30th year, which is all about celebrating our members and community. Be among the first to see an exhibit photographic images of ALT conserved properties captured by photographer, Courtney Mooney, with a show titled, “The Vision to Conserve: Celebrating 30 years with the Androscoggin Land Trust.” Have a chance to win a framed photo in a raffle, or the opportunity to purchase a photo from the collection. More info here.

  • A drive to recruit 100 NEW Members!  New members allow us to keep pace with public expectations for land stewardship, and also with the increasing costs of stewardship in our changing climate. Every year, for example, there are more down trees on our trails than the year before, and invasive plants and pests continue to encroach and demand attention. Members also mean we can have good communication with our community about important conservation news, and events. There is also an exciting matching sponsorship opportunity for up to 3 businesses for this membership drive in 2019 that will receive significant exposure – learn more here
  • Announcing NEW Business Memberships for those that make an annual gift of $100 or more. Business members will receive a new “Proud Business Member of ALT” static window cling so they can show their customers, employees, and partners that they’ve made an investment in Maine’s environmental health and future. Annual business members will also receive linked logo recognition on our website.  We are excited about being able to expand our offerings to our current business partners and grow this important community of business members and partners. Learn more about business memberships here.
  • We have additional plans to celebrate with you all in the works  – please stay tuned for more!
