7th Annual Androscoggin River Clean Up
August 11, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pmFree
Come and help us clean the shores of the Androscoggin River in preparation for the Great Falls Balloon Festival! This event is also part of the City of Auburn’s Summer Fest!
Volunteers will gather at Little Andy Park in New Auburn (soon to be re-named Anniversary Park for the City of Auburn’s 150th Anniversary – located on Pulsifer St. near Rolly’s Restaurant). Volunteers will paddle up and down both sides of the river picking up trash and debris – and if you’re not seaworthy, or do not have a boat, no worries, there’s plenty to pick up on foot! Volunteers are encouraged to wear boots or shoes that can (and will) get wet, and work gloves to protect their hands.
In addition, Maine Conservation Voters will be hosting a BioBlitz in conjunction with our event – you could also choose to help capture data on river wildlife using your phone camera for science! We’ll also once again be joined by CES to learn how to prevent stormwater runoff and they’ll also be raffling off a rain barrel!
After the clean up, at 1PM join us at the Baxter Brewing Co. tap room (130 Mill St, Lewiston) to celebrate – the 1st pint is FREE for all volunteers! Thanks to Baxter Brewing for offering this donation!
Thanks also to the Cities of Auburn & Lewiston Public Works Departments for helping to make this event possible.
Thanks to our lead event sponsor!
