Stream Explorers

June 19, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Free

ALT is working with Maine Audubon and the YMCA Outdoor Learning and Recreation Center to put on a Stream Explorers program.  You can read all about it on the Maine Audubon website.  Dana Little from ALT and Wil Libby from the YMCA is assisting in this project.  We already have 8 people signed up and can accommodate up to 45 people including children ages 6 and up (accompanied by an adult).

As a participant you will learn about aquatic invertebrates and how they can be used as indicators of water quality.  The event will take place on the YMCA land on Bobbin Brook, a spectacular site for aquatic invertebrates.  The program will be led by an expert, Tom Danielson, PhD, of the DEP who has been conducting these surveys for years.  In preparation for this event we recommend you view the two videos (Training Part 1 and Training Part 2) on the website and you might wish to download the manual.  Some photos from the site where we will be working, off 167 Stetson Road in Auburn, can be found here.  We hope to see some of you there!
