Botanist Justin Schlawin will lead a walk through the beautiful Captain Harris Homestead Preserve in Greene to identify mushrooms and other plants. This nature walk is part of the Explore the Outdoors!series sponsored by Center Street Dental.
This approximately 300 acre property contains upland forest habitat and approximately 5750 feet of frontage along Hooper Brook. The property is privately owned and is permanently conserved by a conservation easement held by the Androscoggin Land Trust.
Directions: Captain Harris Homestead Preserve is accessed off Bull Run Road in Greene. From Lewiston, follow Route 202 north to Greene to the intersection with Main St. Turn right onto Main St. and follow to intersection with Sawyer Road. Follow Sawyer Road approximately 1 mile to Spragues Mill Road on the left. Follow Spragues Mill Road approximately .2 mile to Bull Run Road on the right. Follow Bull Run Road approximately .5 mile until the Captain Harris Homestead Preserve property is on the left side of the road. Park along the road.
